Ray grew up in South Florida a warm tropical community rich in blends of color, tropical foliage and Mediterranean architecture. His love for the ocean and a desire to travel and explore landed him in the Navy. He volunteered for the Submarine Service where he served on the older diesel boats in Key West and later on the newer nuclear submarines. During his military service he visited many of the Caribbean Islands, and European countries living in England for several years. After 20 plus years as a Submariner he retired from active duty and settled here on the first coast and resides in St. Augustine.

Ray has always had a tremendous respect for those with the talent to paint, draw, or sculpt in order to capture and share with others the beauty and form they see in their subjects.

Ray has been interested in photography as a hobby for many years beginning with the "Snap shot" cameras and later on 35mm cameras. He is now using newer Digital Technology for his photographs with a high resolution digital equivalent of the 35mm SLR camera.

Photography has given him the opportunity to use his creative talents. He has an eye for composition, the ability to capture what he sees and the emotions the image evokes in order to share it with others. His photographs reflect the influence of his surroundings in South Florida and attempt to capture the beauty of St. Augustine and St. Johns County.
